Dave Ramsey Rocks!!!!
After working on our debt for 2 years we have paid off over $40,000 in debt. My husband and I make around $35,000 each/year and have one son and another on the way. His plan is awesome, his book is definitely worth it! We'll be debt free in Dec 2011!

Just stumbled onto this, and I know that I am late to the party but would like to leave my $0.02

I would add that it is important to come to an understanding with yourself WHY you are in debt in the first place, other wise it will be like a yo-yo diet. Reach goal, celebrate, get in trouble, budget, repeat

Mrs. Micah,
You are a genius! :) Thanks for getting it fixed.

Barbara,
I will lookout for that magazine, thanks for the recommendation. Thankfully we have a library close by.

$80,000 in 3 years is AMAZING! And only $1400 left? You are so close, any plans to celebrate when you are done?

Try Family Fun Magazine. Either on line at http://familyfun.go.com/

or at the library. When my children were small, this magazine was FULL of great stuff to do.

And I really congratulate you on your success so far. It takes a lot of guts to stop the spending and cut back. My family has paid off $80,000 in debt in three years. We have $1400 left to go that should be taken care by the end of the month.

Welcome! And I just found the IE6 fix for that problem. So we can put that together and then (hopefully) even the dreaded IE6 will still have to love and accept your site. ;)

I had the same reaction when I heard the recommended themostat setting is 78 degrees. I even know folks who leave it on 80. I just don't know how they do it. If our temp gets above 74 I start getting really cranky. And know way I'm sleeping with it 78 degrees in the house.

Can't help you on the bread, even though I would like to try to make some myself. If you get it figured out give us a follow up post!

I nearly said 'put on a sweater' and then I realised that you were probably talking about heat, not cold. Where I am it's getting colder by the day.

There's a small book called 'How to pay off your mortgage in five years (from someone who did it in three)'. She gives a whole host of budget-saving ideas, including how to make your own dog food (which another commenter mentioned).

Also, that thick un-yeasty bread...hope you're not throwing it out? Slice it thin and toast it. Heavy bread like that makes awesomely crunchy toast!
