Nuthin, Nada Zip. We are DEBT-FREE!!!! $58,000 GONE!

July 1, 2009 – 12:36 pm

I can’t even describe my feelings right now. Relief. Accomplishment. Thankfulness. Those are just a few of the emotions I’ve felt since yesterday. What happened yesterday you ask?

Well….we paid off our very last car loan. Which means we are DEBT-FREE!!!!!!!!!

Not Normal

We started out with $58,345.16 a little over 2 years ago. When we started with that amount of debt it seemed huge to us, almost insurmountable. We had 2 car loans and a maxed out credit card. Now, 27 months later we have no debt. We aren’t normal, and I love it! The automatic payment scheduled this Friday for our car loan won’t happen. Instead, we’ll get to keep our money, and let it accrue interest in an account, instead of paying interest to someone else.

Change Your Family Tree

If you feel like you never have enough money, or won’t be able to retire when you want, please, please pick up a copy of The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. It will change your life, I promise.

If you have already begun the journey, and feel overwhelmed or can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, hang in there. It will get better, and one day you will be celebrating too. Let me know when you are debt-free!

  3. we had $18,500 left on my hubbys high dollar truck when he finally decided he wanted to get debt free, (he read daves book). this was last summer. i was reluctant to sacrifice and pay off yet another of his high dollar trucks, already payed off several, so i drug my feet til about august, when i finally felt secure that he was really converted. so as of jan. 1, 2008 we were completely debt free except the house. 5 months- $18,500!

Note to Editor: I’m okay if you want to delete my link - I just thought it would be fun for you to see how different people celebrate this moment.

We became debt free on Sept 30th (also our 4-year wedding anniversary) and should fund our 3-month Emergency Fund next week- just in time for year end! Wahoo! Bring on 2010- we’re ready!

  9. I’ve been watching Dave Ramsey’s show. However, what do you do when you’re disabled, can’t work and your only income is your husband’s income? He can’t take on another job because he himself is in bad health as it is - barely makes it home. We have consulted a bankruptcy attorney. My house and car are always up to date - never miss one never late. We enjoyed excellent credit always until I was out of work due to the disability and no disability income yet (the attorney is working on my disability case)! Now, I’ve had to consider bankruptcy for the credit cards (I know, stupid!) because of the huge debt they carry. There are five of them.

  12. The elegance of those blogging engines and CMS platforms may possibly be the lack of limitations and ease of manipulation that permits builders to put into action prosperous subject material and ‘skin’ the web site in this kind of a way that with truly small effort a single would in no way observe what it truly is generating the website tick all without having limiting content material and effectiveness.

  14. I do HIV education and testing. Education about risk factors and transmission is critical in preventing the spread of HIV. Many people have little info, or have incorrect info, about HIV and how it is transmitted.
