Happy 2008! I wish for everyone a debt-free year!
Whether you achieve the debt-free goal or just get closer to it I wish you well.
I’m back from our vacation/house-hunting trip to California and enjoying the last day at home with the kids before they head back to school tomorrow.
We spent two weeks in southern California visiting family for Christmas and doing a bit of house-hunting/neighborhood searching. We found quite a few neighborhoods we like, but I think we are going to rent first before we buy. The housing market is tanking in so cal and will only continue to do so for at least another year. Renting will also give us a chance to save up even more for a down-payment (after we are debt-free).
We went a tad over our planned budget for our vacation/house-hunting trip. It’s not too bad though as we have the cash set aside for it. I feel so stingy now though, I hate spending money and would rather see that cash go towards the debt.
BUT, the most important thing is that we made it through the Christmas without incurring any new debt. Yes, we had a debt-free Christmas!
How about you?
I’m going to update our debt total here in a second. Like I had expected we didn’t pay off much in December. All extra money went towards Christmas and our trip.
Happy New Year everyone…

Yay you’re back!
Happy New Year and i’m glad the trip went well. I know how you feel about spending money now, I hate it!

Hi! Thanks for the welcome back.
And YAY for you! A debt free Christmas is awesome. Now all the ads on the radio that are playing for credit cards and consolidation loans talk about “Do bills from Christmas have you in over your head?” etc… Not us! It feels good knowing it’s all paid for.

We were also able to have a debt-free Christmas. In fact we didn’t really spend any money on gifts. All the money we did spend was on travel expenses to go see family. It was definitely very satisfying.
