Reduce a Bill Challenge Takes the Month Off
December 7, 2007 – 5:00 amWelcome to Working For Financial Freedom. If this is your first visit please read about this blog. You can keep updated by subscribing by email or to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I really blew it last month with my grocery bill. I had aimed to reduce it by $20, but not only did I not reduce it, I OVERSPENT. Some others really did well. Elizabeth at Suburban Wife’s Daily Dollar Diary wrote in and said:
My challenge this month was to cut back on our dining-out expenses and I’m happy to report that so far we’ve been very successful! Our bugeted allowance for Dining is $75.00. To date, we’ve spent $46.65.
Great job Elizabeth! Does anyone else want to check in?
I know I wasn’t the only one that struggled last month. Which is one of the reasons why, for the month of December, I will not be hosting the Reduce a Bill Challenge. I figured with the holidays and everything it’s a very busy time of year for most people. I will start back in January; new month, new year and a fresh start!
I have a request though. I would love to see this challenge grow and get more people involved; sharing their goals, ideas and helping others. I think it’d be neat if the challenge traveled to a different blog each month. I will host the challenge in January, if you are interested in hosting it a month during 2008 let me know! It doesn’t involve much, a post introducing that month’s challenge, maybe a couple posts during the month and a follow-up post at the end.
I hope everyone is ok with my decision to take the month off. Let me know what you think.

I did great on my grocery bill, but I really struggled in other areas. And I still haven’t tallied November’s numbers….I’m that disorganized right now!
I would love to host the Reduce-A-Bill Challenge sometime!

I think taking December off is a fine idea. It seems that just staying within budget in December is hard enough much less reducing.
I’d love to host the Challenge in 2008. I’d be happy to take February or any other month. Let me know.
We ended up spending $50.85 on dining out last month — that’s almost $25 under budget. But we exceeded our grocery budget by almost $15.

I also would love to host the challenge. I have to agree with taking December off, it’s such a busy time of year…

Great! I’m glad that there are some people interested in hosting. When I post the January challenge I’ll contact those who said they were interested and see if they have a particular month that they prefer to host.

I’d love to host the challenge sometime. I was too disorganized to take part in 2007 but I have high hopes for 2008!

I’m so glad you are willing to keep it going. Its such a great motivation. December has enough challenges without adding this one, so a month off sounds great. I’d be willing to host a month as well next year. Just let me know when.
