It’s almost the end of the month, only 5 more days. How well are you meeting the goals you set for yourself in the Reduce a Bill Challenge?

We have another entrant into the challenge- Single Guy Money. Welcome! He wrote:

I have a Misc section in my budget that I usually alot $350 a month for. My dining out, starbucks run, atm withdrawals all come from this fund. I would like to get this below $300 a month.

As for me I think I have failed miserably. My goal was to spend $380 on our groceries this month instead of $400. I was using my debit card until the middle of the month, making it a bit harder to keep track of how well under budget I was coming. Then I decided to get smart and take out cash to use the rest of the month. That way it would easier to see just how much I had left. Wish I had done that sooner though. I think I have not met my goal this month but I am going to pull out my receipts and double check. I’ll have the final tally at the end of the week for our final check-in.

  2. I have not done well at all. I did not follow my plan of keeping track of my no spend days. It just seemed like everytime I turned around I was giving out bus money for the kids as I did not refill their change jars last payday.

It isn’t that I would spend alot, but $1 here and a $1 there just added up.

Are you all doing the Reduce a bill challenge for the month of Dec?

  3. I’ve been successful for the No Spend Days, but I’ve really been struggling on the limiting meals out that I’ve paid for to 3 days a week. I don’t know if its because I’ve gotten lazy or just frustrated. I think I’m up for another month with a different bill to reduce. A fresh start could be beneficial.
