Made a small payment towards the debt today, $4.63 from Half.com. I listed some book on Amazon, Ebay and Half.com. Slowly but surely the books have been selling and the payments trickling in.

Yesterday was a great mail day as $26.55 in rebate checks came in. :)

Every little bit helps.

The outgo this past week has been high. $168.01 on winter clothes for the oldest two kiddos. And *gulp* $1620.00 on plane tickets for our Christmas/househunting trip. But you know what the sweetest thing is?

It was all budgeted for and paid for in cash. Yep. We’ll get to enjoy our trip and not have to come back to a large credit card bill (which is what we would have done in the past).

Today is the 232nd Marine Corps Birthday. For those not familiar with it it’s a big deal for Marines. Balls and cake-cutting ceremonies are held throughout the entire month of November.

We were invited to attend the Headquarters Marine Corps Ball in DC. It’s the big one, the Commandant himself would have been there. It’s being held today. All of our lodging and travel expenses would have been paid, but we still would have had the expense of a ball gown for me, tux rental for my husband, and babysitter accommodations for the kiddos. We had to regretfully turn down the invitation. There are some large expenses this month that have to be paid for our upcoming move and we couldn’t squeeze this in. Before discovering our new “debt-free” attitude we would have just charged everything and gone. I told my husband to tell his boss definitely next year!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES! SEMPER FI!
