September 28, 2007 – 9:54 amYou might have noticed some changes around here. (or maybe not…) Anyway, I had placed a few Google ads in the space to the right but was disappointed in the ads that were showing up. Things for credit card consolidation, loans etc… I don’t endorse or recommend these types of things and don’t want any readers to be led astray like thousands (maybe millions?) of others have. The few cents I was earning from clicks on those ads isn’t worth that.

I really, really respect that you did that! I feel the same way when I listen to Dave Ramsey. He’s great but the network here that syndicates him plays the most awful commercials about 90-days-no-financing and payday loans, that sort of stuff. It’s so frustrating. Bleh.
I just found your blog and will keep reading. You’re so funny and interesting! I have a DIY spirit in me too and I like to see your take on everyday life being frugal

Thanks Shanti. It was a hard call; but truly the pennies a day I was making was not worth endorsing that junk. We have Dave Ramsey here and they just play all his commercials, for his ELP’s and stuff.

I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing. I try and only post legitimate quality places to make a little extra money and I keep seeing ads for websites that I would NEVER sign up with. The only reason I’m hesitant is because it took me soooo long to find an ad that looked good on my site : ) … those google ads are so tacky! Anyway, I think I may follow your lead on this one and take it off…

I have google ads on my other blog (only 2 right now). It fits that blog and the ads that come up are relevent. So if the ads fit on your blog I’d keep them in you are trying to make money on them. I don’t want to discourage you from that, because some people do well making extra money with them. It’s just with this blog relevant ads weren’t really coming up. (although there is 1 article that I might place an ad on and see what comes up, just for an experiment)
I do agree, they could make them better looking!

Good for you for sticking up for what you believe in! I also had some ads coming up on my page from Auctionads that were terrible and I took it down.
