Whew. I just added up everything. I’ll have to come back and change the final total a bit. The receipts from yesterday for gas and food are with my husband (he’s at work) so I had to estimate what those were.
Entertainment & Misc.
$312.50
Hotel
Free! (2 nights thanks to Hilton HHonors…)
Food
$495.37
Gas
$592.00
Grand Total for our family of 5 to go on a ten day trip to Maine
$1399.87
Ouch.
We really spent A LOT on food but we were on the road quite a bit; either traveling or doing activities. I will say that I’m glad to be home so I can make good home-cooked meals and not have to spend so much on eating out. ($495 is more than we usually spend in one month on food, cleaning supplies and diapers!!!)

Ouch. This one really scares me. I’m on a mission to save $15,000 in a year, which won’t be easy considering I start saving in October –The same month I’m traveling to Japan for a week. I’m already dreading the expenses!

Well, as long as you aren’t driving to Japan you won’t have outrageous gas prices
Have a nice trip in Japan, I grew up there (spent 12 years). It’s an amazing country with lots to see and do.
$15,000 is a great goal to have, I’ll be following your blog to see how you do. Good luck!
